Dream Island Guide
Use Pokemon Dolls + Drifloon to reach hidden islands and encounter legendary Pokemon

What Are Dream Islands?
Dream Islands are daily-resettable instanced locations in Pokopia, each mirroring one of the main-world biomes. They contain exclusive materials, furniture, and on five specific islands, a chance to encounter a Legendary Pokemon. Access is gated behind Drifloon, whose signature Specialty is literally called "Dream Island". Place a Pokemon Doll, inspect it, and Drifloon flies you to the island matching that doll.
Prerequisites
Dream Islands unlock partway through the main story. Follow these steps to access them:
- 1Reach Withered WastelandsProgress Squirtle's story quest until you can cross into the Wasteland region.
- 2Find DrifloonDrifloon appears on the west side of Withered Wastelands, near the beach by the bridge toward Palette Town.
- 3Build Drifloon's HabitatCreate "Riding Warm Updrafts" (あたたかな風に乗って): place 3 campfires in a connected row and light them.
- 4Befriend DrifloonReport back to Drifloon. The "Dream Island" Specialty is now active.
- 5Get a DollEevee and Pikachu Dolls are the earliest available — both can be picked up near the same wasteland beach.
Doll → Island → Legendary

Every island also drops Stardust, furniture, Human Records, and music CDs regardless of theme. Underground floors add Pokemetal fragments and crystal.
New in the Expansion Pass: the Starmie Doll
The Bubbly Basin expansion adds a sixth Dream Island. It is reached with the Starmie Doll, dug up in Bubbly Basin, and it is the only island where Phione appears.
- 1Own the Expansion PassThe Starmie Doll and the Undersea Dream Island are part of the Bubbly Basin DLC. Without it the doll cannot be obtained.
- 2Raise Bubbly Basin to Env. Lv. 3Frillish only appears once the town's Environment Level reaches 3. Free it from the netting blocking the cave entrance and it will ask for your help.
- 3Follow the minecart tracksHead to the cave northeast of the Bubbly Basin starting area. Take the ladder down, pass the coral room, then follow the tracks to the large chamber with orange glowing coral.
- 4Break the Star-Speckled RockThe doll is buried in the sparkling block on the far side. Smash it, then place and inspect the doll like any other — Drifloon carries you to the Undersea Dream Island.
Frillish has the Search Specialty. Bring it along and the Dowsing Machine picks out the buried doll much faster. The doll can technically be dug up before Env. Lv. 3, but the quest marker only shows after.
How to Use a Doll
- 1Place a doll on any floor tile. The Vine Mat is specifically designed as a doll display stand.
- 2Walk up and press the interact button to inspect the doll.
- 3Drifloon appears and asks if you want to visit the Dream Island.
- 4Confirm. The screen fades and you wake up on the matching island.
- 5Explore the surface — collect daily-respawning materials, furniture, and Star Dust.
- 6Find the hole near the island center. Its position randomizes daily. Drop down into the underground.
- 7Look for an anomalously walled-off area (ice, magma, or mismatched wall texture). Break through with Rock Smash.
- 8Return by talking to the Drifblim at your drop-off point. Anything left behind is lost at reset.

Legendary Spawn Rate
Legendary appearance chance scales with your total Environment Level across all five towns (Palette Town, Withered Wasteland, Bleak Beach, Rocky Ridges, Sparkling Skylands). At total Env. Lv. 10, the rate is roughly 1-in-20 visits. At the cap of Lv. 50, it rises to approximately 10-in-20.
Use the Pokedex "this area only" filter (press Y). If you see a "?" entry in addition to Drifloon and Ditto, a legendary is present today — explore the underground thoroughly.
Tips & Tricks
- ▸Reset via date skip. Advance the Switch 2 system clock by +1 day before 5 AM to force a new roll.
- ▸Cloud Island doubles your visits. Cloud Island lets Drifloon ferry you a second time, giving you 2 Dream Island runs per day.
- ▸Dolls are not consumed. A single Pikachu Doll lasts forever — no need to stockpile.
- ▸Pack everything before leaving. Items you leave on the island are deleted at 5 AM reset.
- ▸Save before a hunt. If today's roll has no legendary, quit without saving and rewind the day.
- ▸Pair Dowsing with Search Specialty. Pokemon with the Search Specialty make the Dowsing Machine highlight glowing ground more reliably.
- ▸Phione is not guaranteed. The Undersea island rerolls daily like every other island — check the Pokedex area filter before spending time searching underwater.
FAQ
- Can I visit multiple islands in one day?
- Only one by default. Cloud Island adds a second visit. Otherwise, you must wait for the 5 AM reset or advance the system date.
- Do random-doll islands count for legendary hunting?
- Ditto and Substitute Dolls randomly send you to an already-unlocked island, so they can technically land on a legendary's island — but you cannot target which one.
- Does the Rocky Mountain island have a legendary?
- As of current public guides, no legendary has been confirmed on the Clefairy Doll island. It is primarily a materials and cave resource run.
- Why can't I find Mewtwo on Sky Island?
- Mewtwo is soft-gated behind Sparkling Skylands' "Build a Giant Building" storyline. Finish that quest chain first.
- How do I unlock the Undersea Dream Island?
- You need the Expansion Pass. Raise Bubbly Basin to Environment Level 3, take Frillish's request, then dig the Starmie Doll out of the Star-Speckled Rock in the minecart cave. Phione spawns underwater there, at random, once per daily reset.
